Anime Cosplay #2: Chii from Chobits

Chii is one of the cutest known female anime characters. From her 'Chii' response to her ears, she is 100% adorable. She is the definition of innocence, always looking for love and doing a good thing for others. Her bubbly attitude and willingness to befriend anything are what put her as one of my favorite characters. I love Clamp for creating her and the series itself. Now for some cosplay!!!
Cosplay Chii
...now for the one who inspires those to dress up as her!!!

Anime Review #2: Ouran Highschool Host Club

Left to right: Mitsukuni Haninozuka (aka Honey), the twins Hkaru and Kaoru Hitachiin, the "King" Tamaki Suou, Takashi Morinozuka (aka Mori), Haruhi Fujioka (the main misses), and the Vice President Kyokya Ootori
Ouran High School Host Club, created by Bisco Hatori. I definitely enjoyed this anime and cant wait to finish the series.

Plot:
Our main character, Haruhi Fujioka, finds herself attending a very prestiges high school known as Ouran Academy. When she realizes that she is most definitely an outcast because she is not rich like the other students, she decides to find a quiet place to study. She then lingers into the Third Music Room assuming that no one is present in the room and finds a whole new group of students that have called their set up the Ouran Academy Host Club. Nervous around this group of handsome boys that use their gifts to "entertain" their lady friends, Haruhi accidentally knocks over a vase that is worth about $80,000. Due to her clumsy act she has to help the Host Club inorder to pay off the debt.  *Forgot to mention that Haruhi dresses and acts like a boy so this is why the group thinks she is worthy of being a "gentleman"* After her first two days of helping the group, they tell her that she must dress properly and of course the "King" of the club walks in on her changes and realizes that she is a girl. No more spoiling so go watch the series for yourself!

Japanese Traditions #1: Birthdays

Happy Birthday!!! O tanjo-bi omedeto!!!
Every culture has a different way of celebrating a birthday. Since I am mostly interested in the Japanese culture, I will be talking about how they celebrate their big day.
There are a few birthdays that are in particular considered very important.

Shichi-go-san (七五三): this is a festival for three, five, and seven year old children. On this day, the parents are supposed to dress their children in a kimono a taking them to the local shrine. This is called the rite of passage celebration and dates back to the Heian period.
7 yr old girl, 5 yr old boy, and 3 yr old girl.
Hatachi (二十歳): this is for twenty year olds and it is basically a celebration of becoming an adult. A person is now allowed to vote and drink.
I love the outfits that they wear on their birthday! >///<
Kanreki (還暦): all sixty year olds celebrate this day by having a party with a cake decorated with red turtles and white cranes. The red turtles represents 10,000 years and the cranes are a symbol of 1,000 years. The sixty year old is also given a red jacket ( that symbolizes the beginning of life.
A lot of 60 yr olds!!!
Kiju (喜寿): the seventy-seventh birthday is the occasion of the "happy age".
Those hats are interesting!
Beiju (米寿): this is the eighty-eighth birthday and is also known as the "rice age" because the character for rice in Chinese looks like the characters for eight tens plus eight.
They seriously aged really well.
...and finally...
Hakuju (白寿): this is known as the "white age" and is celebrated for the ninety- ninth birthday.
I really like this picture for some reason.

J-rock #1: Dir en grey

Band line up!!!
A metal group from Osaka, Japan form what is called Dir en grey. This group was founded in 1997  and has been making fantastic music ever since. This was originally a visual kei band but they have moved to a less dramatic way of dressing.

Dir en grey dressed up in Visual kei
The members of the group are:
Kyo~ vocals
Kaoru~ guitar, backing vocals
Die~ guitar backing vocals
Toshiya~ bass guitar, backing vocals
Shinya~ drums

LOVE! KYO'S! CHEST!
It is said that Kyo's voice is considered a pivotal aspect of the band. Unlike other vocalists, he is able to create a beautiful range of notes along with other noises that would be considered inhuman. All of the songs that are written are written by Kyo himself and mostly deal with  society, mass media along with sexual obsession and love but with negative implications. A majority of their songs deal with double meanings or play on words using the multiple meanings of a kanji character.

Thought I would throw this in for laughs ^w^

Anime Cosplay #1: L from Death Note

I will be doing my very first cosplay post on L from Death Note. Not only because I'm highly in love with him but because I think he is one one the coolest characters in anime. He is such a sullen character but yet is so interesting and often shows signs of happiness which give off a friendly quality to his genius way of thinking.
So without anymore of my babbling lets see some pictures of two cosplays that I thought were both interesting.
Cosplay L
...and now the picture of the man himself, L! What's funny about this is that I searched for a cosplay that would match this picture in some sort of way and I believe these two match up pretty well.
Actual L
Time for random throw ins...
This cosplay is kinda cute!

Derp... no just stop... you're making L look bad.
It sucks being chained up to another person. you can't even pee the way you want.
Finally I want to end this blog with a picture that I thought was entertaining. Enjoy the little kids as they cosplay as L and Light. They have got to be the cutest things ever... outside of L himself.
These kids are so cute!!! <3 (They're even handcuffed together!)

Anime Review #1: Psychic Detective Yakumo

Yakumo Saitou showing off his red eye
Psychic Detective Yakumo, created by Hiroyuki Kawssaki and Tomoyuki Kurokawa, reminded me of a mix between Case Closed and Death Note.

Plot:
Yakumo Saitou was born with a red eye which enables him to see ghosts. In a way he believes that these so called ghosts are merely just feelings of souls who have died but haven't fully let go of their life in the human realm. It is up to Yakumo to basically talk his way to the spirit to actually set it free. With the help of  Haruka Ozawa, Yakumo has enough cases to last a life time and a possible love interest that will open his heart after it was brutally attacked by his mother (I don't want to spoil what exactly happens).
